The UK Presidency of the G8, in association with the Islamic Development Bank Group and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, will hold a G8 Deauville Partnership Investment Conference on 16 September 2013 in London. The conference aims to bring together senior government Ministers and high-level businesses representatives from across the G8, the Arab Countries in transition and Deauville regional partners (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and Turkey) along with leaders of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs).

The main objectives of the conference is to provide a platform for Arab transition country governments in the Middle East and North Africa to showcase foreign direct investment opportunities in their countries and highlight steps they are taking to attract investment and to facilitate investment networking opportunities between companies from these countries and those from across the G8 and Deauville regional partners (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and UAE and Turkey), including those considering but not currently operating in the transition countries. It will also promote dialogue between investors, governments and the International Financial Institutions about challenges and policy barriers to attracting greater investment.

Deauville Partnership Investment Forum

About  Deauville Partnership Investment Forum


The IDB Group, in its current capacity as chair of the secretariat for the G8 Deauville Partnership IFI Coordination Platform, and in accordance with the Group’s new strategy to assist the Arab transition countries in building an enabling investment environment that would be conducive toward attracting more FDI inflows, is co-organizing the Deauville Partnership Investment Forum in Cairo on June 25, 2013. 
The objective of the Forum in Cairo is to discuss the current investment climate and review the ongoing work by the government to build an enabling investment environment and any new incentives to foreign investors. The Forum will also engage a group of investors to present and discuss their experience on investing in Egypt so as to identify success stories and any obstacles encountered. The discussion of the investment climate and the related reforms, in addition to the presentation of investors’ perspectives, will positively contribute to the government’s on-going to build an enabling investment environment, which would ultimately generate and open new and promising economic opportunities in the country. 
The other objective of the Forum is to support and prepare for an active participation by the concerned Egyptian officials in the Investment Conference which is being organized by the G8 Deauville Partnership Presidency (UK) in London on September 16, 2013, in cooperation with the IDB Group and EBRD, to promote foreign direct investment into Arab transition countries.

In conjunction with the 38th IDB Annual Meeting the “Dushanbe Business Forum 2013” will be organized by the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) under the patronage of H.E. the President of Tajikistan, and it avails itself of the collaboration of the Islamic Development Bank Group Business Forum (THIQAH) and in association with Tajinvest, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Tajikistan, and Agro Invest Bank.  The Forum will showcase Tajikistan as a promising investment destination and will also focus on the best practices of Islamic Banking and Leasing. The Forum will take place at the Tajik President’s Residence “Pugus” on 18th May 2013. 
 
This Forum is aims to strengthen the economic ties between the Tajikistan and OIC countries by attracting investment into Tajikistan. The forum will also highlight the economy and business environment in Tajikistan and showcase available investment opportunities and prospective business partnerships. Furthermore, the forum will represent a unique opportunity to investors, business people and policymakers to network and establish business relations with their counterparts and other leading representatives from the local business community in order to explore together the many investment and trade possibilities that the country offers. It will focus on the new investment opportunities in Tajikistan, which will bring in foreign investors to invest in various projects and link them for further networking and to highlight Tajikistan’s unique investment location attributes and allow participants to physically appreciate its natural endowment and to give an opportunity for local investors to discuss business collaboration with potential investors. It will connect foreign investors with companies and individual entrepreneurs from Tajikistan who have viable business projects which require foreign partners. In addition, the forum aims at reinforcing the position of Tajikistan on the world investment map by highlighting profitable business opportunities readily available in the country. 
 
Furthermore, this Forum intends to present to the Tajikistan business community ICD’s associated Islamic financial institutions network in the member countries in general and in the CIS in particular. Also, it will be an opportunity for the CEOs' of the Islamic banks and leasing (Ijara) companies to address key factors around achieving scale through consolidation or merger activity to strengthen their institution and ensure long-term industry stability; a quaint themselves with new Islamic finance solutions that will meet the increasingly complex needs of corporate borrowers, consumers, issuers and investors; and create the conditions that will enable a more globally harmonized footprint for their institution – that, if achieved, will propel the Islamic finance industry to the next level of success. 
 
The Forum, furthermore, provides an opportunity and serves as a unique business platform to present, promote and interact with global Islamic banking leaders and senior corporate executives, and to expand their professional networks by establishing a new business relationship with the IDB and its affiliates. It will also avail the opportunity to the participants to meet with their counterparts in Tajikistan and other CIS business community in order to explore together the possibilities of joint potential business opportunities.
 
Dushanbe Business Forum 2013 will explore and enhance business partnership by providing ample opportunities to identify partnership instruments and to facilitate dialogue and action on the key emerging Islamic banking related challenges as the Islamic banking and development finance is the latest global innovative trend providing additional as well as alternative source of international business funds.
