About  Deauville Partnership Investment Forum


The IDB Group, in its current capacity as chair of the secretariat for the G8 Deauville Partnership IFI Coordination Platform, and in accordance with the Group’s new strategy to assist the Arab transition countries in building an enabling investment environment that would be conducive toward attracting more FDI inflows, is co-organizing the Deauville Partnership Investment Forum in Cairo on June 25, 2013. 
The objective of the Forum in Cairo is to discuss the current investment climate and review the ongoing work by the government to build an enabling investment environment and any new incentives to foreign investors. The Forum will also engage a group of investors to present and discuss their experience on investing in Egypt so as to identify success stories and any obstacles encountered. The discussion of the investment climate and the related reforms, in addition to the presentation of investors’ perspectives, will positively contribute to the government’s on-going to build an enabling investment environment, which would ultimately generate and open new and promising economic opportunities in the country. 
The other objective of the Forum is to support and prepare for an active participation by the concerned Egyptian officials in the Investment Conference which is being organized by the G8 Deauville Partnership Presidency (UK) in London on September 16, 2013, in cooperation with the IDB Group and EBRD, to promote foreign direct investment into Arab transition countries.

In conjunction with the 38th IDB Annual Meeting the “Dushanbe Business Forum 2013” will be organized by the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) under the patronage of H.E. the President of Tajikistan, and it avails itself of the collaboration of the Islamic Development Bank Group Business Forum (THIQAH) and in association with Tajinvest, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Tajikistan, and Agro Invest Bank.  The Forum will showcase Tajikistan as a promising investment destination and will also focus on the best practices of Islamic Banking and Leasing. The Forum will take place at the Tajik President’s Residence “Pugus” on 18th May 2013. 
 
This Forum is aims to strengthen the economic ties between the Tajikistan and OIC countries by attracting investment into Tajikistan. The forum will also highlight the economy and business environment in Tajikistan and showcase available investment opportunities and prospective business partnerships. Furthermore, the forum will represent a unique opportunity to investors, business people and policymakers to network and establish business relations with their counterparts and other leading representatives from the local business community in order to explore together the many investment and trade possibilities that the country offers. It will focus on the new investment opportunities in Tajikistan, which will bring in foreign investors to invest in various projects and link them for further networking and to highlight Tajikistan’s unique investment location attributes and allow participants to physically appreciate its natural endowment and to give an opportunity for local investors to discuss business collaboration with potential investors. It will connect foreign investors with companies and individual entrepreneurs from Tajikistan who have viable business projects which require foreign partners. In addition, the forum aims at reinforcing the position of Tajikistan on the world investment map by highlighting profitable business opportunities readily available in the country. 
 
Furthermore, this Forum intends to present to the Tajikistan business community ICD’s associated Islamic financial institutions network in the member countries in general and in the CIS in particular. Also, it will be an opportunity for the CEOs' of the Islamic banks and leasing (Ijara) companies to address key factors around achieving scale through consolidation or merger activity to strengthen their institution and ensure long-term industry stability; a quaint themselves with new Islamic finance solutions that will meet the increasingly complex needs of corporate borrowers, consumers, issuers and investors; and create the conditions that will enable a more globally harmonized footprint for their institution – that, if achieved, will propel the Islamic finance industry to the next level of success. 
 
The Forum, furthermore, provides an opportunity and serves as a unique business platform to present, promote and interact with global Islamic banking leaders and senior corporate executives, and to expand their professional networks by establishing a new business relationship with the IDB and its affiliates. It will also avail the opportunity to the participants to meet with their counterparts in Tajikistan and other CIS business community in order to explore together the possibilities of joint potential business opportunities.
 
Dushanbe Business Forum 2013 will explore and enhance business partnership by providing ample opportunities to identify partnership instruments and to facilitate dialogue and action on the key emerging Islamic banking related challenges as the Islamic banking and development finance is the latest global innovative trend providing additional as well as alternative source of international business funds.

IDB Group Day in Niger

IDB Group Day in Niger  (11-12/04/2013)


I. CONTEXTE 

A. Objectif et Résultats attendus

1. Objectif

Le Groupe de la Banque Islamique de Développement (BID) envisage d'organiser une Journée de la BID au Niger, en marge de la cérémonie du Lancement officiel de la Stratégie de Partenariat entre le Niger et la BID. L’objectif global de ce Forum est de permettre aux différents acteurs économiques au Niger de se familiariser aux filiales du Groupe de la BID ainsi qu’aux différents produits et services de la Banque en vue de renforcer la coopération entre le Niger et le Groupe de la BID. D’une manière spécifique, ce Forum vise à :


  • Présenter les activités du Groupe de la BID au Niger ;
  • Présenter les produits du groupe de la BID conçus pour le secteur privé ;
  • Présenter les mécanismes de financement des projets du Groupe de la BID en particulier le Guichet du secteur privé et du Partenariat-Publique – Privé (PPP);
  • Vulgariser les programmes d’appui proposés par le Groupe de la BID pour le secteur privé (PME/PMI, Micro-Finance…) ;
  • Présenter les critères d’éligibilité au financement  de la BID.

2. Résultats attendus

- Les Opérateurs économiques nationaux sont imprégnés des produits du Groupe de la BID;
- Appropriation par les opérateurs nationaux des mécanismes de financement des projets de la BID en général et ceux du secteur privé en particulier;
- Les Opérateurs économiques nationaux sont imprégnés des programmes d’appui proposés par la BID pour le secteur privé ;
- La coopération entre le secteur privé  nigérien et la BID est renforcée à travers l’engagement des discussions sur le financement des projets ;
- Discussions et réunions d’affaires (B2B) avec les opérateurs économiques. 

Les présents Termes de Référence fixent le cadre thématique et les dispositions organisationnelles de cette rencontre qui sera conjointement organisée par le Gouvernement du Niger et la Banque Islamique de Développement (BID) le 11-12 avril 2013.

II. CONCEPT THEMATIQUE

Cette rencontre qui sera animée conjointement par les Experts de la Banque Islamique de Développement et les Responsables des institutions nigériennes concernées se présentera  sous la forme de journée porte ouverte sur les guichets et les modalités de financement de la BID et de sa filiale chargée du secteur privé en particulier.

Au cours de la rencontre, aura également lieu la cérémonie officielle du lancement de la Stratégie de Partenariat entre la BID et le Niger. Le programme de la journée va s’articuler autour des thèmes majeurs suivants (voir projet de programme ci-joint) :


  • Ouverture officielle et discours d’ouvertures des autorités compétentes du Niger et des Dirigeants de la BID;
  • Présentation générale du Groupe de la BID ;
  • Présentation des institutions nigériennes représentant le secteur privé (Agence de Promotion d’Investissement, Chambre de commerce, Patronat) sur les opportunités d’investissement et de partenariat offertes par  le secteur privé nigérien.
  • Présentation sur les avantages du financement islamique et la façon dont il peut contribuer au développement durable du Niger

Les travaux se dérouleront en deux temps,  à savoir :

- Les exposés suivis de discussions en plénière ;
- Les échanges sectoriels avec les promoteurs de projets en ateliers.

III. DISPOSITIONS ORGANISATIONNELLES
  
a. Participants/Intervenants :

Cette rencontre placée sous le haut patronage du Chef de l’Etat du Niger regroupera environ 100 à150 participants et, est ouverte aux acteurs nationaux tels que :


  • Les institutions financières nationales (banques  commerciales, les assurances);
  • Les grands promoteurs de projet ;
  • Les Administrations clés d’encadrement du secteur économique;
  • Les organisations internationales (la Banque Mondiale,  l’Union Européenne, la Banque Africaine de Développement…) qui financent les projets de développement ;
  • Les medias publics et privés.
b. Intervenants :


  • Experts de la BID ;
  • Responsables de l’Administration publique nigériennes
  • Responsables de différents départements concernés par le secteur privé et l’investissement au niveau du gouvernement du Niger
  • Consultants/Personnes Ressources.
  • Les Coordonnateurs  des projets financées par la BID et/ou une de ses filiales.

c. Logistique

La Journée BID et le Lancement officiel de la Stratégie de Partenariat se dérouleront à Niamey pendant une journée au Palais de Congrès qui dispose de : (i) une salle de conférence appropriée et des commodités logistiques adéquates ; (ii) un cadre adéquat pour l’hébergement et la restauration des participants et intervenants.
